Welcome to the First Edition of the Southeastern Corporate Sustainability Rankings.
On May 11, 2010, southeastern companies were ranked regarding their environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and policies. The Southeastern Corporate Sustainability Rankings (the Rankings) is the first of its kind and was created to inspire, motivate, and create awareness about the progress of our publicly traded companies, headquartered in the southeast.
The analytics and rankings were conducted by Boston-based KLD Research & Analytics, Inc. in collaboration with GreenBusiness WORKS and its sponsors.
The Rankings have had a very positive impact as many organizations have reached out to us inquiring how to stay in the upper quintile or how to elevate their position. Resources are available and many are listed on our site.
To continue support in accelerating corporate sustainability, we will be hosting, along with our sponsors, The Callaway Boone Group at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and Reznick Group, The C Suite and Sustainability Series. This Series is open to all companies listed in the rankings as well as privately held organizations with revenues over $50 million. The idea to create a Southeastern Corporate Sustainability Ranking evolved from our company's continuing effort to raise the bar in the southeast and create a more sustainable region. Our organization's overarching goal is to play a prominent role in assisting the southeast to become a more sustainable region and for Atlanta to become known as the green capital of the south.
As a culture, we love lists. Lists help people look at how a particular company (whether they're in the top, middle or lower quintile) is doing relative to their peers. The list is meant to celebrate, encourage, and inspire. It is our hope that those organizations who are in the top quintile are enjoying the rewards of sustainability. And that they will also accept the responsibility to encourage others to join them on the path.
