Socially Responsible Investing
Mark C.Callaway
Mark has worked in the financial services business for 30 years, over 20 of those with major investment firms. His interest in SRI / ESG investing goes back to growing up on the West Coast in the ’60 – ‘70’s. Mark transitioned his investment management work to focus on SRI / ESG in 2000. Because of his commitment to that focus he is recognized as one of only a few advisors at his firm that is recognized as a “green’ financial advisor.
Mark served for 25 years as a third generation trustee on two of the Callaway Family Foundations that were founded in the early 1900s. In addition, to help foster and pass on an appreciation for philanthropic involvement to his children, he created his own family foundation, The Morningstar Foundation, on which his four children currently serve with him as trustees.
In 2009, Mark co-founded, along with Stephanie Armistead, (an inaugural board member of the Green Chamber of the South) the Southeast Corporate Sustainability Rankings (SCSR) to:
- Help Southeastern companies know where they stand in ESG so they can maintain and improve their priorities and actions.
- Serve as an information tool to help companies align their goals.
- Help establish a legacy of corporate and social responsibility in the Southeast.
- Help companies raise awareness and take action in reducing their carbon footprint.
In 2011, Mark became a trustee of Foundation for Advancement of Corporate Sustainability to help further his work in ESG in the non profit foundation area.
